Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
This is simple....

Find what owners achieved the most on the football side and then find out who made the most out of the club.....and weigh one up against the other.....

Reg Pratt number 1 for me.

Established the traditions of the club.

The icelandics were a bloody disaster and they also were planning to go to the Olympic stadium

Sullivan gold and Brady.. utter cunts
Terry brown cunt
Clearness family bastards (bond scheme)

I bear the icelandics no ill will. They fucked up but this was more due to financial crisis than being cunts

All almost comically dreadful - but then it is by no accident or slight of fortune that West Ham United, such a massive London club, has so underperformed for decades.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Westside - Yea my bad, I had a 3 in my head and obviously it was 30 odd not 300, the club was only worth 100 when G&S bought it. Made a fortune anyway, and as you say at some point probably around another 17 mil or so. Cunt.

I seem to remember Harry was touting Michael Tabor to come in with money at the start of he 90's. Then the Sky money came in and Brown brushed it off.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Sullivan and Gold have suffered from taking bad advice on managerial and player appointments. The buck ultimately stops with them and some of the managerial appointments have been truly abysmal. Avram Grant will always stand out, top of the pile - But for them to think Manuel Pellegrini was the man to navigate a lower mid table side to success, with the group of players we had was also up there as moronic. They've spunked so much money on shit players/players that haven't worked out - it's hard to level at them they have zero ambition - as I said, being in bed with certain agents etc has cost them and us as fans.

Cearns/Brown etc are the only ones we've actually won anything under - but that's in spite of them , not because of them.

Eggy - well that particular episode couldn't have been anymore west ham could it? We finally get an ambitious wealthy owner who loses all his dough in the financial crisis!!!

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
They've all been dreadful

We'll never know what might've happened had we not been taken over by the broke billionaires but if you look at what Bloom has done at Brighton and Benham at Brentford then you can see quite clearly what good stewardship is all about

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Manuel - According to wiki Brown made £33.4m from the sale of his 7,392,000 shares.

Don't know if that's accurate or not, but Brown still holds 2.39% of the shares of West Ham. Doesn't sound a lot, but if the club is valued at £700 million by the share purchase option (as reported at the time), that's just south of £17 million for Brown.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
The failed 1987 takeover by an American called Irving/Ivan brown was a proper sliding doors moment. He was going to invest heavily for the time . But some old woman up in Scotland lady something refused to sell her shares .

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Brown/Cearns - fucking two bob cheapskate wankers, no ambition fucking scum

Eggy/Bjorkjefflekgggiinnnn - Ambitious but out of their depth and then unlucky to lose all their money.

Sullicunt/Gold - flit between being ambitious (spend 180m) and ridiculously two bob (Moyes, Benitez). Undoubtedly in it for the money but must be the worst chairmen in the league in terms of business acumen. Not fit to run the club, cunts.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
They've all been crap . Just that some have been slightly less crap than others . Brown and the shysters have been the worst . Pratt and the cearns family had no ambition either but they at least never put the club in jeopardy. The Icelandic bloke not Magnusson was just unlucky.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
None of them have been much good. I think the Icelandics meant well but were irresponsible, and the Icelandic bank collapsing didn’t help.

Brown is by far the worst, fella is scum. it still sickens me seeing the cunt in the posh seats for games, didn't he trouser circa 300 mil when he sold up?

As said before, apart from the stadium move Sullivan has been okay imo.

No real opinion on the others.

It’s been a fucking shamble during my lifetime. Caravan owners to Knicker sellers. And pretty much every chancer and wide boys in between. I wouldn’t get my hopes up or concerns about Kretinsky. He going to flip us as quickly as possible. Whoever comes in after that will make or break the club.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Reading the autobiographies of both Greenwood and Lyall, I got the impression that Reg Pratt was a major ally of both. Greenwood never had a contract in all his years at West Ham and Lyall got on famously with him. The rest of the Cearns family were quite split in their support of Lyall in the end not helped by a couple of "outsiders" that ended up on the board. On the whole the Cearns lot stayed in the background. I can't remember much in the way of scandal when they were in charge., The biggest fuck up they made was sacking Lyall totally. Would have been interesting if John had moved upstairs so we had a football man on the board.

Re: How would you rank West Ham's chairmen/owners in your lifetime?
Looking to the future, other than "not being Sullivan", is anyone convinced that Kretínsky is going to be a massive upgrade?

I'm not.

It's just like us appointing Rafa. We'd only looking forward to it, because it's not Moyes.
